Asphalt pavers, crawler pavers

Asphalt pavers are considered to be the most sophisticated road-building linear machines. Their main purpose is to lay asphalt pavements, which includes pre-compaction and distribution of the asphalt mixture over the previous layer of pavement.

Typically, asphalt pavers are paired with trucks that are mix suppliers. Sometimes they are also used in conjunction with the services of a truck crane. The asphalt mixture is received by the pavers from the storage transloaders or vehicles into the receiving hopper, then the feeders transfer the mixture to the auger chamber and the augers distribute the mixture across the paving width and the smoothing plate unit ensures premature compaction of the mixture.

Asphalt pavers with an automatic control system must meet strict requirements, among which are:

- consistency in the thickness of the paved layer (no deviation of more than 1 centimeter in 90% of measurements);

- consistency of the width of the paved layer (deviations should not be more than 10 centimeters in 90% of measurements);

- flatness of the paved layer (when using a 3-meter lath, the gap should not be more than 3 mm in 95% of measurements);

- constancy of the transverse slope of the layer (deviations not more than 0.005 in 90% of measurements);

- design elevations along the pavement axis (deviations not more than 1 centimeter from the design elevations in 90% of measurements).
While design elevations are usually solved by providing base and subgrade elevations, the rest of the requirements fall to asphalt pavers. Tracked pavers. The clear advantage of tracked pavers is their efficiency. They are convenient to work with on pavement that has a weak base. This type of pavers has gained the most popularity as compared to other pavers.

Tracked pavers have the following properties: low sensitivity to irregularities in the pavement, high maneuverability, low pressure on the surface, great potential for the realization of increased traction forces. The disadvantage of these machines is a slow speed of movement (2-3 km/h), which is not the best indicator for special equipment that works with constant moves to distances of varying distances. Crawler pavers are divided into four-axle and two-axle pavers, the latter being the majority. Tracked pavers have many advantages, but the most important advantage, due to which this special equipment is in high demand, is the provision of a large paving width.
