The composition of work on maintenance of excavators includes the following: washing, disassembly, cleaning of the excavator, replacement of worn parts, units and assemblies with new ones, drawing up a list of defects, restoration of all fits in the mating, as well as the assembly of units and assemblies of the machine, running and bench tests of units and assemblies that have already been repaired, painting of the excavator. When ordering a truck crane or backhoe loader, you can be sure that the equipment has undergone the necessary maintenance and will arrive in fully operational condition. The scope of maintenance work is determined by the technical condition and operation of the excavator. The final volume is determined during the technical repair of the machine.

Excavator repair works are classified as follows:

1) Current - partial disassembly of the excavator is performed; faults in units and assemblies, which occurred during the operation of the machine or preventing correct operation, are eliminated; separate parts, units and assemblies are replaced with new or previously repaired ones.

2) Overhaul - complete disassembly of the excavator is performed; initial mating and fits are restored; worn-out units and assemblies are completely replaced with new ones.

Current repair and maintenance of excavators can be carried out both at the bases of mechanization and at the place of machine operation. Current repair and maintenance is best carried out by specialized teams with the participation of excavator operators, their assistants. In such an approach the schedule of all works is necessarily observed.

Personnel servicing excavators must strictly observe and know the following:

1) Instructions for carrying out repairs of construction special equipment

2) Safety rules

3) The manufacturer's manual on the use of the excavator

4) Monthly plan-schedule and annual maintenance plan of the machine assigned to it

5) Procedure of registration of the work done.

 

Monthly plan-schedules of excavator repair and maintenance require the main primary documents:

1) Excavator repair and maintenance logbook

2) Shift report of the operator.

 

A repair and maintenance log should be kept for each machine. As a rule, the person responsible for the log is the chief mechanic of the construction department or the chief engineer of the mechanization department. Information on overhauls performed and data on the number of hours worked are recorded in the excavator's technical passport.
