The construction of the subway in Nizhny Novgorod is a large-scale infrastructure project that requires the use of high-tech special equipment and the coordinated work of professionals. Groskran, a key participant in the process, provided the site with modern machines capable of solving even the most complex tasks. Among them are truck cranes, tractors and excavators, which have become indispensable assistants at the construction site.
Truck cranes: giants for heavy loads
The core of the fleet was Liebherr truck cranes, known for their lifting capacity and maneuverability. The flagship Liebherr LTM 1750 with a record lifting capacity of 750 tons was used to assemble the most massive structures, including the installation of tunnel supports and station elements. Its "younger brother" Liebherr LTM 1350 (350 tons) ensured the precise assembly of metal structures and work in dense urban areas. For medium-complexity operations, the Grove GMK 3055 (55 tons) was used, which was ideal for moving construction materials at height. And the compact KamAZ KS-65719-1K (40 tons) became indispensable for auxiliary work where speed and mobility were required.
Tractors: reliability on the move
Transportation of super-heavy elements is a separate challenge. Powerful tractors were used to transport the 60-ton rotor of the tunneling shield and its components: Scania 6x6, Mercedes Actros and Volvo FM. These machines, equipped with reinforced platforms and safety systems, guaranteed the delivery of goods without delays, despite the difficulties of city traffic and narrow access roads.
Excavators: power and precision of earthworks
Preparation of pits, soil excavation and formation of tunnel crossings were carried out thanks to the Volvo EC 250, Caterpillar 320 and Caterpillar 318D excavators. The Volvo EC 250 model, with its high productivity, handled large volumes of soil, and the maneuverable Cat 320 and Cat 318D worked in a limited space, ensuring the accuracy of work in critical areas.
Results and Prospects
The use of Groskran equipment allowed not only to meet deadlines, but also to improve construction safety. Each machine was selected taking into account the specifics of the site, and the professionalism of the operators became the key to trouble-free work.
The construction of the metro in Nizhny Novgorod is a striking example of how modern special equipment turns ambitious projects into reality. Groskran continues to confirm its reputation as a reliable partner ready for new challenges in the field of large infrastructure.
